The Salvation Army Northwest Valley Corps in Surprise, AZ is looking to fill a Caseworker position. The successful candidate for this position will have the ability to multi-task, be flexible and manage a variety of concurrent fiscal responsibilities and effective communication skills. The Caseworker position will respond to community requests for financial assistance, and telephone requests for emergency assistance in a timely manner to determine those who qualify for assistance. Case management duties will include but are not limited to interviewing clients, completing financial assistance forms and food boxes, as well as providing referrals to other agencies. This position will supervise volunteers for the Food Pantry, ensure proper data entry into approved databases in a timely manner, and coordinate the E-Harvest/AZ Food Network/Feeding America programs. Other duties may include assisting with planning and execution of special projects to include community fairs, promotional events, food program, and agency in-services.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completion of Background Check with satisfactory result
- Maintain current and valid Arizona State Driver’s license
- Associates Degree with 2 years commensurate experience in an office setting
- Knowledge of the English language including reading, writing and rules of composition
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and lotus Notes
- Possess active listening skills and communicate information effectively
- Be physically able to lift 40 pounds and in reasonably good health
- Ability to multi-task, be flexible and manage a variety of concurrent fiscal responsibilities
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus. The employee must have the ability to operate a telephone, desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
