Location: Pasco County Corps, Port Richey, FL Position Type: Regular Full-Time Pay Range: $19.00 – $22.00/ Hour About this opportunity: We are looking for a candidate with experience leading/developing recreational, educational or social service programs to join our team as our Community Center Director. This role leads our community center programs including our before/after school program and summer/school break day camps. This position is responsible for supervising and monitoring the day-to-day operation of the Community Center including operational hours, facility maintenance and security, program development and promotion, and recreational activities; and ensures center operates in compliance with The Salvation Army mission, policies and procedures. Key responsibilities: Plans, schedules, assigns, and supervises the work of Community Center personnel; Trains and instructs employees in the proper methods and procedures; monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures; Conducts performance evaluations and provides salary and hiring/firing recommendations. Opens/closes the Community Center in compliance with established operating hours; Ensures the center is properly secured during non-operating hours. Oversees and supervises in the maintenance and repair of the Community Center; Inspects facility on a regular basis to detect needed repairs in a timely manner; Ensures that all center equipment is properly maintained and used by patrons in order to guarantee long life of equipment. Researches, plans, develops, schedules, promotes, implements, and monitors recreational programs and activities for all age-groups based on the needs and interest of the local community. Schedules, facilitates and/or supervises activities occurring at the center such as sporting events, craft classes, games, field trips, etc.; Monitors activities hosted or conducted by outside groups. Monitors all patrons visiting the Community Center to ensure compliance with rules and regulations and to ensure their safety. Determines funding needs; Develops and implements fund-raising activities to generate funds for programs i.e. canteens and dispenser machines, etc. Assists in preparing the Community Center's operational budget; Monitors expenses to ensure compliance with budget constraints. Monitors and maintains adequate inventory of supplies and equipment for center operations; Recommends and submits purchase requests to the supervisor for approval. Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and reports regarding the Community Center programs and statistics. Builds and maintains effective and positive relationships with the public and other community agencies and church groups in order to promote awareness of the Community Center activities. What we are looking for in you: Two year college or technical school degree in Physical Education, Social Work or a related field AND Three years progressively responsible experience developing and implementing recreational programs with at least one year in a supervisory capacity, OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
