The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a Family Store Assistant Manager Position for the Kentucky-Tennessee Territory, located in Bristol, TN.   Job Summary:   Serves as lead worker to employees working in the Family Thrift Store; assisting store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items; trains employees in the proper procedures for operating and maintaining a cash register; monitors employees work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy and completeness; maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the store displays; ensures the security of store items and the cash register.   Supervises and participates in the work performed by employees, beneficiaries and/or community service workers in the warehouse; ensures that all donated items are processed through the warehouse in a timely manner and in accordance with established standards; ensures the thrift store remains adequately stocked.   Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of effective customer service techniques. Knowledge of the principles and practices of basic mathematics. Knowledge of effective and efficient warehouse operations. Ability to lead, motivate and evaluate the work of co-workers. Ability to determine the suitability and appropriate pricing of donated items. Ability to ensure the warehouse area and equipment are maintained in a neat and orderly manner. Ability to instruct and train co-workers in the proper methods and procedures for performing work. Ability to lead and motivate employees in performing work assignments. Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with coworkers, customers, and donators. Ability to perform general maintenance and cleaning activities for buildings and grounds. Education and Experience   High School diploma or G.E.D., and Two years progressively responsible experience working in a retail store environment, 1 year experience in a supervisory capacity   Or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.   Physical Requirements:   Ability to meet attendance requirements.   Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.   Ability to operate a cash register. Ability to perform routine mathematical computations and count change. Ability to exert the physical energy required to performing housekeeping and minor maintenance work. Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull moderately heavy (25-50 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment. Moderate mobility: duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
