Special Events Intern

OVERVIEW:

The Special Events Intern is a temporary position and will provide support primarily to the Special Events Coordinator and the Development Staff, in preparation for the annual Flower Power event.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide direct support for the annual Flower Power Luncheon event
• Assist in the organization detail and participation of special activities
• Work with Special Events Coordinator on all event aspects
• Create description pages for auction items on PayBee
• Help organize, photograph, and package auction items to be aesthetically pleasing
• Record silent auction donations, sponsorships, and individual donations
• Organize and maintain the Special Event filing system
• Send acknowledgment letters and emails to donors
• Provide clerical support to Events Coordinator
• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Experience with Canva or basic graphic design (preferred)
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel (required)
• Interest in event planning, non-profit work, and/or fundraising (preferred)

• Ability to maintain good rapport with other staff members, corps personnel, and the public

• Self-motivated and able to motivate others
• Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, accurate, and precise
• Knowledge of Salvation Army practices, policies, and organization (preferred)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually file boxes)

• Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software
