What are the responsibilities and job description for the After School Program Director position at The Salvation Army?
This position is eligible for, but not limited to, medical, vision, dental, life and disability benefits in addition to varying time offs.
Function: To follow all state and local guidelines for licensing. Keep up will all local changes and updates in order to keep our program open and operational. Provide a safe learning environment for the children in our program. Plan and execute day to day planning and scheduling.
Duties and Responsibilities: The On-Site Program Director manages the local operations of the Corps After School and Summer Program. This includes maintaining the Divisional standards, as well as supervision of the staff and logistics of the day-to-day operations. In this position, the Director will maintain licensing and Colorado Department of Public Health regulations, plan and implement with after-school staff, and track supply needs. The Program Director is responsible to ensure proper record keeping, parental permissions, program goals, outcome documentation, and health and safety standards.
Qualification and Education Requirements:
- Be supportive of The Salvation Army’s mission. Ability to reflect and model the high standards of our organization as one of the world’s most distinguished human services charitable organizations.
- Must have a four-year degree with a major such as recreation, education with a specialty in art, elementary or early childhood education or a subject in the human service field.
- You must submit fingerprints, and certifications in First Aid, CPR, Medical Administration, and Universal Precautions.
- Administer a program to ensure they meet or exceed the legal requirements for staffing, facility, nutrition, safety, etc. regarding Colorado Department of Social Service’s and Colorado Department of Human Services Child Care Licensing rules and regulations.
- Ensured documentation complies to meet the State of Colorado licensing standards.
- Adhere to Social Service Guidelines.
- Report official incidents recorded and process information with the Corps Officers and Divisional Director.
- Supervise program site staff and manage daily enrichment activities.
- Demonstrated success developing, implementing and evaluating innovative programs
- Communicate professionally with staff and parents.
- Strong skills managing multifaceted program resulting in measurable successes and program growth.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Able to communicate effectively to both internal and external audiences.
- Promote, collaborate, and market by attending community gatherings, and establishing relationships with neighborhood schools within your area.
