Job Summary:
Performs routine repairs and maintenance of buildings and equipment; performs minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repair work; performs groundskeeping and custodial work.
Essential Functions:
Building Maintenance (100%)
Performs routine building maintenance activities; performs minor plumbing repairs required by leaking faucets and clogged toilets; performs carpentry work to repair dents and holes in walls and paint walls; performs minor electrical repairs needed by faulty outlets and other minor electrical issues. Performs routine custodial work.
Performs preventative maintenance of Salvation Army vehicles and equipment; monitors and replenishes all fluid levels.
Monitors lighting and changes light bulbs when needed.
Maintains grounds, including grass mowing, trimming hedges, blowing leaves, and collecting debris; pressure washes buildings, sidewalks, and other campground areas; sweeps sidewalks; beautifies the feet; monitors activities and visitors to ensure maintenance and security of grounds.
Sweeps, vacuums, strips, mops, and waxes floors
Cleans both the inside and outside of large camp windows.
Empties trash receptacles around campgrounds and takes to dumpsters for disposal.
Assembles and moves office furniture, including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc.
Assists with event set-up and tear-down.
Drives truck to pick up materials and repair items needed for maintenance work.
Maintains all tools, supplies, parts, and equipment belonging to the Maintenance Department
Cleans surrounding areas after each repair/maintenance job.
Other Responsibilities:
Performs other related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of general building and grounds maintenance practices and procedures
Ability to learn by on-the-job training, including the ability to follow instructions.
Ability to perform routine and minor repair and maintenance activities of buildings and grounds.
Ability to use and maintain maintenance equipment and tools effectively and safely.
Ability to read and speak the English language.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
And
Two years of experience in handling minor repairs
Or
Any equivalent combination of formal education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certifications:
Valid Driver’s License
Physical Requirements:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to speak the English language.
Work requires lifting, carrying, or pulling heavy (50-100 ) materials, supplies, and equipment frequently. Heavy mobility duties are usually performed by combinations of standing, walking, climbing ladders or steps, bending, reaching, or transporting merchandise on a frequent change basis, relieved by fewer periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a typical office environment with little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or pains related to noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
Work is also performed outdoors with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat, and discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
