The Salvation Army Camp Mihaska in Bourbon, MO is looking for a Maintenance II. This is a part-time position with starting pay of $18.29 per hour! This position offers generous paid time off policy which includes sick time, vacation time, and personal time. 14 paid holidays a year. Participation in the company funded pension plan after one year of service. Part-time employees are eligible to participate in Group Voluntary Life (based on age and smoking status).
Job Objective
To help maintain the excellence of camp operations by providing maintenance and care to all grounds, buildings, and to vehicles. In addition to providing the best customer service to guests. This position is expected to advance and support the Mission of The Salvation Army.
Essential Functions
- Accept instruction and guidance from camp administration.
- Attend orientation sessions, safety meetings and staff meetings as requested.
- Occasional but rare opening and closing of camp for guest groups, some weekends required.
- Maintain a healthy supply of seasoned firewood.
- Perform inside/outside the building regular trash pick-up, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning of restrooms and basement kitchen and other cleaning duties as needed.
- Repair and maintain property including building, heating/cooling, plumbing, electrical service, and furniture.
- Assist with repairs and maintenance of equipment including lawn mowers, snow blowers, and weed trimmers.
- Use of hand and/or power tools for basic maintenance services.
- Remove snow from sidewalks, driveway, and parking lot.
- Meet with outside contractors regarding service work or estimates.
- Perform emergency repairs whenever possible before calling in outside services.
- Inspect, recommend and receive approvals for major building repairs and building/janitorial supplies.
- Perform routine janitorial/custodial services as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED. Position requires a background check to be completed. Findings may disqualify an individual for this position. Prior maintenance experience preferred. Demonstrates basic understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, small motors, diesel and gasoline engines and other power equipment. Certified by the end of the first year in High Ropes, Lifeguard and Train the Trainer Lifeguard Course, NASP, Rifle Range, and Pool Operator’s Certification.Ability to speak, write and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with leadership, staff, and suppliers. Sound physical condition.
Physical and Working Conditions
Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity. Lifting, pulling and pushing of materials up to 100 pounds (example: rock salt, sandbags, cleaning supplies, tractor parts, chairs, bed frames) on a regular basis. Requires bending, squatting, walking, and may stand for extended periods. Most of the jobs require standing or kneeling, with some navigation of stairs. Maintain trails while walking and using equipment for extended period. Use of lawn care equipment while standing/walking for extended period.
