Position Title: Warehouse Associate
Job Summary: Overseeing the receiving, warehousing and distribution operations.
Pay Range $17.00 to $18.00
Report To: Social Service Director
Qualifications:
Experience in operating and maintaining warehouse equipment and vehicles, as well as organizing deliveries with vendors and donors. This role requires responsibility for coordinating with the Food Services Coordinator regarding food donations and inventory.
Candidates must have a passion for fulfilling the mission of The Salvation Army and must be articulate in presenting the same to others.
Candidates must successfully pass the pre-employment background inquiry and annual motor vehicle check with a valid driver’s license.
Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Must pass annual MVR check.
- Must be able to pass forklift certification.
- Must have or be willing to pass and maintain DOT Certifications as required.
Skills:
- Minimum two year’s related work experience, some supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to manage people and project efficiently, effectively, and successfully.
- Team player, self-starter, and perform well with minimal supervision.
- Must have an interest and ability to work with people of diverse racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds in a sensitive and culturally appropriate manner.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience or capacity to demonstrate positive interpersonal skills and work as a cooperative team member.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Accountable for oversight and organization of warehouse facilities ensuring optimal usage.
- Adhere to all safety standards to provide effective and safe use of warehouse equipment.
- Responsible for implementing Food Pantry policies and procedures, including packing food pantry orders and stocks shelves as needed.
- Manage the internal Food Pantry operation to distribute food products to eligible persons.
- Trains and provides supervision of food pantry volunteers.
- Maintaining documentation and keeping accurate records of warehouse activities.
- Responsible for tracking all donations received and completing necessary paperwork.
- Unloading, stocking and organizing inventory; operating forklift/ pallet jack as needed.
- Manage and maintain an ongoing warehouse inventory of items and cleaning supplies.
- Ensure warehouse is clean including sweeping of floors, empty dryer vents, etc.
- Responsible for ensuring supplies are moved to correct buildings when needed.
- Responsible for ensuring walk-in coolers and freezers are in working order.
- Coordinate with Food Service Coordinator regarding food inventory.
- Assist kitchen staff with lifting heavy food or other items.
- Responsible for Midwest Food Bank and other vendor pick-ups, as needed.
- Responsible for meal deliveries to community partners.
- Responsible for ensuring all donations are picked up.
- Responsible for shoveling snow and laying ice melt near warehouse.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Seasonal duties as needed including:
- Arrange and deliver coat barrels.
- Pick up coats as requested.
- Deliver and pick up barrels of food from schools, churches, organizations etc.
- Delivering Angel tree tags to organizations and pick up gifts when ready.
- Delivery of toys when needed.
- Help with deliveries and pick-ups at Red Stocking event.
- Prepare warehouse for food basket distribution, including the unloading of
baskets for distribution and loading of baskets for programs and housing facilities.
- Maintain positive work atmosphere through appropriate conflict management, courteous demeanor, and professional and appropriate communication practices.
- Maintain compliance in The Salvation Army’s “Safe from Harm” Certification.
- Maintain compliance in The Salvation Army’s “Mandated Reporter” Certification.
- Maintain compliance in The Salvation Army’s “Sexual Harassment Training.”
Travel may be required.

Regular Full time, Non-Exempt
Physical Demands/ Work Environment:
This Position is required to do light to moderate physical work. In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the individual is regularly required to be able to talk and listen, use hands, walk, sit and stand for extended periods of time. Individual must be capable of frequently lifting 70 pounds, and occasionally lifting more than 100 pounds. Frequently lifts or moves 100 pounds or more with assistance of another person/forklift/floor jack/dolly/cart or truck. Majority of lifting is from floor to waist high. Some lifting required above waist and shoulder high, but it will be at a reduced weight. Position is expected to: Bend, stoop, crouch, stand, walk, carry and push/pull items. The use of office and computer equipment is necessary. Vision abilities will require close vision. Work may be performed indoors, with most of this work in a warehouse or outside. Temperatures will fluctuate with the weather.
