THE ORGANIZATION
Based in Oakland, California, The Shepherd Law Group offers cost effective and practical unlawful detainer legal solutions.
Areas of practice include Landlord Rights: civil litigation (landlord only), evictions, and Oakland/Berkeley, San Francisco Rent Board hearings. Property Management: tenant disrupts. Business corporation, and other individual legal services.
Our Mission is to find appropriate resolutions for property management, small and start-up businesses, and individual legal matters.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Legal Research
• Motion drafting
• Law and Motion practice
• Court appearances
• Represent clients at trial
• Attend hearing
• Discovery demands and requests
• Drafting letters
• Attending settlement conferences
• Attending mediation
When required responsibilities include
• Answering client and potential client calls
• Drafting unlawful detainer complaints
• Drafting defaults, dismissals, and memos to set case for trial
• Communication with court staff
• Assist supervising attorneys in assembling motions
• Trial documents preparation
• Discovery request and Discovery demands
• Draft notices 3, 30, 60, and 90 day notices and notice to cease
• Photocopying
• Processing client payments
• Communicate with process server
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
• Organizational, time management, and prioritization capabilities
• Ability to work independently, efficiently and with minimal supervision
• Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain a positive work environment
• Knowledge of judicial council forms
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced work environment
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to take direction
• Ability to work in a small office environment
• Ability to represent clients in court
• Ability to attend and conduct court and jury trials
• Ability to complete legal research
• Ability to draft and proofread motions
• Ability to problem solve
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
• Member of a State Bar and in good standing
• 1-3 years of legal experience
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong written English skills
• Great attention to detail
• A collaborative team player
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Experience with timeslips preferred
WORK SCHEDULE
The Attorney position is hybrid, full-time/part-time, position. Hours will be primarily from Monday through Friday, evening and weekend work may be required.
