What are the responsibilities and job description for the Robotics Technician II position at The Sherwin-Williams Company?
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Strong foundation with all types of powered and unpowered hand tools, and manual machines (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.)
- Develop layout and sequence of operations for fabrication and assembling custom structural metal products, applying print reading, mathematics, and knowledge of metals and welding
- Position, align, fit, and assemble together parts, using jigs, powered-industrial equipment, powered tools and hand tools
- Operation of standard powered-industrial equipment (fork trucks, man-lifts, etc.)
- Maintain/repair and tune shop machines, tools, etc.
- Working directly with engineering team in the design, build, installation, and support of custom automated robotic systems
- Read blueprints/drawings and sketches (individual components, electrical panels/devices, mechanical assemblies, system/line layouts) for proper machining, fabrication/assembly, and installation
- Travel (10% of the time) for the installation and commissioning support of new and existing plant equipment
- Working knowledge with 12 VDC to 480 VAC electrical wiring or circuits
- Assists in electrical projects and performs electrical repairs
- Read blueprints/drawings and sketches for electrical panels/devices assembly and installation
- Communicate with the electrical designer to clarify any issues or relay any corrections or changes to the electrical design
- Support maintenance and upkeep of the engineering facilities
- Supports site housekeeping and safety programs, maintaining a workplace that is clean and safe.
- Participation towards completion of other related tasks and duties as directed or needed
- Performs certain portions of repairs to power industrial equipment, assists in rebuilding of related equipment
- Improves reliability and operating efficiency of existing and future systems/equipment
- Conducts preventive maintenance tasks in a timely manner to insure operation of all equipment, in an efficient and safe manner.
FORMAL EDUCATION:
Required:
- GED or High School diploma
Preferred:
- Post-secondary/technical degree
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- 5 years maintenance or mechanical experience
- Able to effectively use basic computer software/programs (Microsoft Office tools, email communication, etc.)
Preferred:
- 7 or more years maintenance or mechanical experience supporting robotic and/or automated equipment.
TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
- Strong foundation with all types of manual machines (mills, lathes, grinders, etc...)
- Utilize all powered and unpowered hand tools
- Working knowledge with 12 VDC to 480 VAC electrical wiring or circuits and capable of diagnosing 115 VAC control circuitry
Preferred:
- Fully capable of performing MIG welding
- Industrial, electrical, and/or welding certifications
- Basic electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic theory
- Knowledge of PLC and robotic programming
- CAD experience
- Experience setting up and/or operating CNC plasma cutting system or similar
