Mendocino Railway is the owner/operator of passenger and freight railroads including the California Western Railroad / Skunk Train which operates between Fort Bragg and Willits, California.
Skunk Train is seeking a Retail/Food and Beverage Operations Manager to manage the daily food and beverage shift operations and to ensure compliance with all Food and Beverage policies, standards, and procedures. This successful candidate will supervise daily operations, monitor quality and standards, and exceed customer expectations.
The successful candidate for the position of Retail/Food and Beverage Operations Manager should possess a keen eye for attention to detail with an outgoing personality and the ability to interact well with guests and the Skunk Train team. This hands-on position will have the ideal candidate working in an office environment one moment, on the sales floor the next or in our retail / concession operations on the train.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)
- Supervise the daily operations of the Food and Beverage shift
- Oversee compliance with Food and Beverage policies
- Coordinate cleaning programs in all Food and Beverage areas
- Manage beverage purchasing and control procedures
- Implement, use, and train staff on a POS system.
- Manage all aspects of inventory control, ordering, receiving, storage, and merchandise display.
- Maintains proper sales records.
- Keeps merchandise, food, and beverage stocked and organized in all retail locations.
- Understands and complies with all applicable food and beverage regulations and practices
- Work on product development.
- Manage all aspects of vendor relations.
- Implement procedures and train staff on proper food and beverage service.
- Assist with opening and closing duties.
- Selling merchandise and tickets, confirming reservations, answering phones.
- Provide information and offer additional services to guests to enhance their visit to our area.
- Fully understand and support Skunk Train’s Mission Statement.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years experience in food and beverage, culinary, or related professional areas
- Must have a good working knowledge of windows-based software programs.
- Must have good organizational skills with the ability to maintain flexibility in carrying out daily job duties.
- Must be able to effectively handle stressful situations in a public setting and resolve guest related problems in a professional manner.
- Must be able to establish and maintain an effective professional working relationship with other department heads and staff.
- Must possess good interpersonal skills with the ability to read, write, and speak English; communicate professionally, effectively, and clearly face-to-face, and in written communication.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- At least 2 years of management in a retail or food and beverage setting.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
- Pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check required prior to hiring.
- Employment will be 30 hours per week and includes excellent benefit package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance (100% company paid for employee-only coverage), 401(k) retirement, paid holidays and paid time off.
