What are the responsibilities and job description for the APRN position at The Source?
The Source is a Joint Commission accredited addiction treatment facility that offers multiple levels of care to help men and women overcome alcohol and drug addiction. Our mission is to provide a family environment where clients get connected to their mind body and spirit, support groups, and 12-step programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:
- Provide diagnostic psychiatric evaluation and ongoing psychiatric medication management, under supervision of the Medical Director.
- Provide psychiatric case management support to Clinical and Medical team members.
- Initiate requests for laboratory results as needed. Identify normal and abnormal findings, interpret, and initiate medication alterations or follow-up treatment as indicated.
- Conduct patient psychiatric/medical teaching consistent with The Source’s PHP program description and approved policies and procedures.
- Prescribe, monitor, and teach patients the use of medications according to approved medication regimens and protocols.
- Demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior.
- Educates patients regarding their disease, treatments, related drug and treatment side effects and hazards.
- Initiate appropriate evaluation and emergency management for all psychiatric emergency situations.
- Participates in quality monitoring through the review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes on a periodic basis to assure quality care.
- Provide coverage as assigned by Medical Director for physical medicine needs, including but not limited to History & Physical assessments, sick visits, and self-injurious behavior and blind weight checks.
- Complete patient exits interviews based upon facility protocols.
- Attend department meetings and trainings as directed by the Medical Director.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned by the Medical Director.
- Initiate and maintain timely, accurate documentation of all services rendered
- Assists in data analysis.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to work as a team member and have management, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions and be flexible in relation to department needs.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards.
- Demonstrates Proficiency in Verbal & Written Communication Skills.
- Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality Laws.
- Knowledge of Drug-Free Workplace Policies.
- Knowledge of Workplace Violence.
EXPERIENCE:
- At least one-year experience in a substance treatment or health care setting.
EDUCATION:
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) (Required)
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in applicable state.
