Job Title: Vice President of Finance_Unity Physicians Hospital
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Classification: Exempt
Principal Functions:
Performs Administrative duties as well as departmental duties. Directs and oversees all the financial activities of the hospital including preparation of current financial reports as well as summaries and forecasts for future business growth and general economic outlook. Monitors expenditures, prepares monthly financial statements and administrative reports. Provides technical assistance and training to clerical and professional personnel by explaining and demonstrating the work to be performed. Is responsible for data processing and financial reporting.
Position Duties:
- Directs the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to CEO and Board of Directors, tax returns, and reports for government regulatory agencies and financial institutions.
- Oversees accounting, budgeting, auditing, finance, health information management, materials management and business office functions. Meets regularly with departments supervised to keep informed and to offer direction.
- Oversees the financial management of the facility. Develops a capital budget and makes recommendations for purchase of capital expenditures, reimbursement management, and development of financial reports for third parties.
- Oversees the hiring process of qualified personnel for departments supervised; disciplines and terminates as necessary.
- Performs employee evaluations on a timely basis as needed for those persons supervised.
- Develops capital expenditure budget for the departments supervised at beginning of fiscal year.
- Develops yearly operating budget. Monitors volumes, acceptable range of actual to budget, F.T.E.s, Revenues and Expenses.
- Work with hospital auditors on a regular basis.
- Prepares various monthly, quarterly, and annual fiscal reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and reports on special fund expenditures and transactions.
- Provide monthly budgetary reports to managers. Provides technical assistance to clerical and professional personnel in the preparation and/or modification of a fiscal-year budget promoting fiscal responsibility.
- Provide strategic financial planning expertise to the CEO and executives, offering suggestions, ideas, plans for improvements, changes and enhancements.
- Maintain strict adherence to accounting standards. Maintain strict adherence to cash control procedures. Maintain and update skills in technical areas.
- Works with administration on annual budget projections.
- Works to secure funding with outside entities for capital expenditures.
- Works with third party contracting, both with vendors and with insurance payors, for the benefit of the hospital and patients we serve.
- Oversees the application, installation and maintenance of all financial software, assuring both accuracy of the build, the information input, and the reports generated.
- Provides financial information to third parties so that the Schedule K-1’s are issued in a timely fashion in order for third parties to meet the IRS individual tax deadlines of each year.
- Administrative Lead for Finance Committee. Prepares agendas, materials, and minutes for meeting.
- Lead Revenue Cycle Committee identifying areas for improvement and lead committee on implementation of initiatives
- Negotiate Payer Contracts
- Displays concern and initiative. Is resourceful and calm in emergencies.
- Is prompt and efficient with minimal absences.
- Cooperates and maintains good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments, and visitors.
- Seeks guidance and remains knowledgeable of, and complies with, all applicable federal and state laws, as well as hospital polices that apply to assigned duties.
- Complies with hospital expectations regarding ethical behavior and standards of conduct.
- Complies with federal and hospital requirements in the areas of protected health information and patient privacy.
Job Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree with accounting experience. Master of Business Administration preferred.
- Experience: Prior health care environment experience required. 10 Years experience in progressive leadership and management roles
- Licensure: C.P.A designation required
- Skills: Computer experience. Accounting experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Strong leadership ability. Ability to translate financial terms into understandable terms for management staff and the Board of Directors.
Working Conditions
Exposure to contagious diseases through contact with patients. No exposure to blood borne pathogens. Normal office environment while in the administrative office. Will also be exposed to elements of wind, rain and snow with regular commuting to various hospital functions, customers, physicians’ offices, and various community businesses. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds

Pay: $140,264.00 - $210,396.00 per year
