Area Field Manager

Job Title:Area Field Manager - Wisconsin/Minnesota

Scope of Work:

• Manage specific farm area/ location operations
• Oversee planting, irrigation, agronomy, harvesting, and shipping of potatoes
• Execute/monitor farm budgets
• Operate/maintain farm equipment as needed

Job Description:

• Lead and manage potato crop production in his area.
• Supervise field operations, including tillage, planting, seed cutting, cultivation, harvest, and rotation crops and irrigation.
• Direct agronomic activities in coordination with Farm Manger, management and consultants
• Supervise potato shipping activities to deliver excellent customer service and quality.
• Support innovation in agronomic and equipment practices.
• Supervise field employees and motivate seasonal H2A employees.
• Ensure company policies and procedures are followed by employees including proper care and maintenance of equipment and tools.
• Consistently communicate with management about farm activities, challenges, and innovative solutions.
• Assist in crop planning and budget creation and implementation.
• Assist in P&L responsibility, focusing on cost management, as well as managing budget.
• Assist in purchasing of supplies, equipment, and inputs using PO system.
• Assist with cropping plans/adhere to irrigation constraints.
• Provide on-farm leadership.
• Manage employees to keep timely and accurate records.
• Provide insight and input on Capital purchases.

Skills and Experience/Qualifications:

• 3 to 5 years of production agricultural experience required
• Willing to work long hours during planting and harvesting — during planting and harvesting seasons, it is not uncommon to work long hours (60-80 hours per week); outside of that, we typically work 60 hours a week with occasional weekends
• Demonstrate a general knowledge of agronomic management practices as well as a willingness to learn any new technologies
• Knowledge of mechanical operation of agricultural equipment for potatoes, including routine maintenance and repair
• Ability to work as a team and assist others, depending on the task at hand
• Effective communication with colleagues and with management, including the ability to develop a productive and cooperative relationship with others
• Valid driver’s license required, CDL preferred
• Ability to lift 50 pounds routinely and heavier lifts less frequently, with assistance available
• Driven personality, desire to succeed and a team player with a positive attitude

We’re growing and hiring a full-time, year-round, Field Manager for our Wisconsin and Minnesota locations. Help manage the success of these locations which grow 500 acres of irrigated potatoes. You will be in a hands-on role working independently for part of the year and leading the field teams during planting, growing and harvesting.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
