    The State Education Resource Center (SERC) is recruiting candidates to fill a full-time position as a Coordinator of Professional Learning & Organizational Culture. The Coordinator of Professional Learning & Organizational Culture will be essential in supporting SERC's Leadership Team and the entire SERC Staff with internal professional learning and developing an equity-driven accountability culture of success aligned with SERC's mission, vision, and values. This position will report directly to SERC's Associate Director.

    SERC's mission is to provide resources, professional development, and a centralized library to educators, families, and community members in collaboration with the CT State Board of Education and other partners. SERC believes that all students have the right to access opportunities and experiences that reflect and respect their differences and abilities. Research indicates that educational outcomes for students of color, students who are English learners, and students with disabilities continue to lag behind other students' outcomes. SERC's consultants and staff, in collaboration with our partners in school districts and organizations, build the capacity of educators, service providers, and families to meet the diverse needs of our student population.

    General Summary

    The Coordinator of Professional Learning & Organizational Culture is responsible for managing SERC's internal professional learning opportunities, developing strategies to strengthen the organizational culture, and furthering the development of SERC's talent across all service units. The selected candidate is ready to lead SERC to its next level of social justice and racial equity growth while promoting a culture of inclusivity, adaptability, resilience, and outcomes-based by designing, implementing, and maintaining SERC's comprehensive plan for talent development.

    Essential Job Functions

    Applicants must have the ability to complete the following essential job functions:
    • Drive and foster an inspiring work culture.
    • Ensure the development/procurement of anti-racist and equity focus professional learning opportunities for all SERC units of services.
    • Facilitate staff training through identification of needs, design of programs, and evaluation of impact following implementation of training.
    • Empower the SERC team to feel ownership of their professional and personal growth through impactful programming and delivery of self-service and ready-to-use development resources.
    • Lead the development, execution, and oversight of strategic initiatives, plans, and goals in alignment with SERC's vision, mission, and beliefs.
    • Collaboratively and proactively provide/facilitate employee development opportunities and organizational development interventions through strategic policies, structures, and practices.
    • Analyze the agency's professional learning needs based on short-and long-term administrative goals.
    • Actively collaborate with the Directors and the Human Resources Manager to create and implement organizational development through strategic policies, structures, and practice.
    • Use excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and keen attention to detail.
    • Effectively collaborate with others in supporting a highly diverse environment while demonstrating leadership deportment with or without formal authority.

    Responsibilities

    SERC's Coordinator of Professional Learning & Organizational Culture will handle various responsibilities. Duties include, but are not limited to:
    • Commitment to SERC's vision and mission.
    • Practical presentation skills to facilitate workshops, group processes, or meetings in a structured manner.
    • Develop and maintain SERC's professional learning calendar and coordinate team members' plans for professional growth.
    • Plan and organize the resources needed to provide high-quality professional learning, including human capital and fiscal resources.
    • Use project development and management skills; strong interpersonal skills to work with various internal stakeholders to support the agency; strong attention to detail; ability to work effectively and efficiently with an internal team of consultants.
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Knowledge of:
    • Structural racism, systemic racism, societal trends, and influences related to racial equity, anti-racism, and effective institutional and behavioral principles and practices.
    • Knowledge of and ability to apply current adult learning theories, professional learning models, and standards.
    • Knowledge of current literature and sources of information related to racial equity, diversity, and inclusion.
    • Professional learning standards, research on professional learning, adult learning, and differentiated professional learning models to design the effective delivery of professional knowledge.
    • Knowledge of and ability to provide leadership development.
    Skills In:
    • Use of assessment data that enables partners to monitor academic and social progress to drive decision-making.
    • Providing high-quality customer service and collaborative communication that is culturally responsive and accessible for multiple stakeholders, internal and external, to implement professional learning.
    Ability to:
    • Exercise interpersonal sensitivity and group interaction skills to establish and maintain effective collegial relationships.
    • Demonstrate understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the racial-ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, diverse abilities, sexual orientation, socioeconomic disparities of colleagues, and the communities we serve.
    • Support the unique employment needs of diverse groups and adapt materials and services to address these needs, including the use of various consultation and coaching models.
    • Enhance and operationalize in daily job duties the vision and beliefs of the agency.
    • Flexibility and ability to adapt to change in our evolving work environment.
    • Effectively discuss, engage and reflect on social justice and racial equity principles.
    • Uphold high standards for work performance, ethics, and professionalism;
    • Work and engage with a racially and culturally diverse staff;
    • Engage in and discover opportunities for continuous learning;
    • Use computer technology as a resource in professional learning development;
    • Delegate authority and responsibility to staff as necessary to administer the programs and activities of the Center.

    The ideal applicants must have demonstrated effectiveness in a collaborative, fast-paced, highly team-oriented environment yet possess initiative, self-motivation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently and work with minimal supervision.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Work Environment

    The SERC Coordinator of Professional Learning & Organizational Culture will operate in a professional office and virtual environment. Professional business attire will be required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones. Off-site requirements are specific to workshops, training, or school and community work.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This role is a full-time, exempt position. Days and work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasionally, weekend or after-hours work may be necessary.

    Education and Experience

    Master's degree in Education or a related field. Experience 3 years working with talent development or employment training programs.

    Salary Range

    $83,500-107,100
    • New hires will start at the first step of the salary range.
