The Florida Board of Governors is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Director of Information Systems (Position# 48001086) within the Information Technology and Security (ITS) department. This position requires strong organizational, technical, and managerial skills.
The Assistant Director of Information Systems is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Board offices information systems infrastructure. This position is responsible for managing the Board IT, shared service, and contracted staff that support the Board's information technology infrastructure.
Responsibilities, duties, and activities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Managing a team of IT professionals providing leadership, direction, and guidance to ensure the delivery of high-quality services and support
- Develop and refine established policies, procedures, practices, and methods to ensure adherence to industry regulations and standards.
- Perform or oversee IT operations and processes, including but not limited to
- system monitoring, backup maintenance, patching, database administration, security vulnerability remediation, new systems' build and installation, decommissioning of old systems, user administration, and OS administration.
- Oversee IT procurement operations for the Board office
- Manages information technology hardware and software, including inventory management, purchasing, mobile devices
- Identify and implement new technologies and processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance performance.
- Provide technical support for Board staff
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement solutions that support the organization's goals and objectives.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to ensure the delivery of services and support at competitive prices.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or related area with ten years of related experience or combination of education and/or experience. Lower-level degrees (A.A. and A.S.) and a combination of industry credentials plus work experience will also be considered.
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Strong technical background in hardware, software, and network systems, with experience in cloud computing and database management.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage teams to deliver exceptional results.
- Good collaboration skills with the ability to guide and manage technical meetings and projects across various partners and groups
- Ability to develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives that align with organizational goals and objectives.
