POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Customize CADD software for adherences to Florida Department of Transportation design and plans preparation requirements. Develop or assist in the development of applications used to automate processes and improve operation of CADD software. Recommend specifications for the development of advanced applications by development team members or contracted developers. Work closely with the Developers to provide input and direction throughout the development process.


Review, develop, and maintain assigned CADD training curriculum. Provide CADD Support using various methods such as: GOTO Meetings, Webinars, Hands-on/On-site Support to reach CADD users. Report activities and progress to management as required.


Provide certification testing of CADD software before release into production. Work with developers to resolve issues found during testing before the CADD software is released. Test new software released by vendors, reporting issues through proper channels so they may be addressed in future releases.


Assist in the development, maintenance and application of documentation associated with the Department’s CADD applications. This includes: the FDOT CADD Manual, Help files, CADD Website and SharePoint portals. Serve as a technical advisor and facilitate discipline-based Technical Advisory Committees (TACs), reporting these activities to management as required.


Research new technology and industry trends to expand personal knowledge of computer hardware, CADD software, and CADD training. Attend conferences, technical seminars, working sessions and other venues to acquire knowledge of trends and other developments related to CADD and FDOT’s design processes. Share this acquired knowledge with peers and supervisors, and periodically report developments as required.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of customer service; Ability to deal with internal and external customers in a courteous manner; Knowledge of the concepts, terminology, principles and analytical techniques of civil engineering; Knowledge of civil engineering design, construction, production and/or operations; Ability to solve problems relating to engineering; Knowledge of the Department’s CADD software and standards; Skilled in the use of CADD software; Ability to customize CADD software for adherance to the Department’s standards; Ability to be proactive and work independently; Ability to handle multiple tasks; Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; Ability to apply quantitative techniques; Ability to research industry literature of changing technology; Ability to use correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation in writings; Ability to analyze and interpret data and solve technical problems: Ability to communicate technical information effectively, both verbally and in writing: Ability to make presentations: Ability to identify needs and develop and Present Training Effectively.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school Diploma or its equivalent and Two years’ Experience
