Description:
This position participates in planning, programming, testing and documentation of technical projects for the Infrastructure and School Support (ISS) team and the Workforce Education Data Systems (WEDS) team, of the Division of Technology and Innovation, within the Florida Department of Education.



Duties & Responsibilities:
Creates procedural/functional documentation, analysis, maintenance tasks and gathering requirements for the requests received from business users.

Contributes to improvements in data collection projects by identifying issues.

Contributes to the development and improvement of SQL stored procedures, develops requirements for modification and provides updates of project status.

Responsible for monitoring the traceability of project implementations to the requirements defined by the user by maintaining documentation that links user requirements, system requirements, test cases, and implementation together.

Participates in regular meetings with technical personnel in reviewing the progress of projects and executive management to provide updates on the progress of projects.

Coordinates and/or participates in the development and implementation of department policies and procedures as a result of information system/project implementation.

Examples of Work:
Maintains existing SQL stored procedures, SSIS and SSRS Packages.
Writes reliable programs, performs testing and creates documentation.
Document procedures for deployment and implementation plans of products in a manner such that future deployments and redeployments are repeatable with a high degree of success.
Identify and report project issues and communicate status to management.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Have an Associate's or four-year degree in Computer Science, MIS or completed technical application prrogramming training or related programming certification.

Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server (Stored Procedures, SSIS Packages)
Experience with reporting tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services SSRS
Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio using ASP.Net with C#

Experience with SAS Programming using SAS Data Management Studio.
Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Teams
Demonstrates good organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Strong work ethic and self-motivated.
Ability to work independently and proactively identify areas of need or concern, and propose solutions to address those concerns.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to think logically, analyze and solve problems.

This position is located at our headquarter location at 325 West Gaines Street, Tallahassee, FL 32399.

Background Screening Requirements:
It is the policy of the Florida Department of Education that applicants for employment undergo level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
