Starting Salary: $1,200 Bi-Weekly. (In accordance with current spending restrictions, an internal promotion into the position will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employee’s current rate, whichever is higher.)

DESCRIPTION:
The Bureau of General Services is seeking a Distribution Agent for the Support Services Unit. This position reports to the Management Review Specialist. This staff member will be assisting with the day to day operations in the Mailroom.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares, ships and sorts US and interoffice mail for statewide distribution daily. Quadient postage meter.
Prepares and ships packages with waybill for overnight courier, express mail or parcels. Delivers incoming packages to headquarters staff.
Performs daily pick-up and deliveries to and from the Department of Financial Services, local banks and the US Post Office.
Provides telephone assistance to staff regarding mail procedures and resolves complaints or problems pertaining to distribution or receipt of mail locally and statewide.
Coordinates the maintenance and renovations of the headquarters office buildings.
Assists with the performance of janitorial and other maintenance services provided by Koger Properties. Serves as the liaison with Koger on all related building issues.
Assists with the preparing of Department record boxes for scanning and creates excel spreadsheets for inventory purposes for all record box files.
Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
A High School Diploma or its Equivalent.
Ability to operate commonly used office equipment such as computers, printers, fax machine, label maker, paper shredder.
Ability to use Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).
Ability to prepare reports and correspondence.
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities.
Ability to develop and implement office procedures.
Ability to follow instructions.
Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness.
Ability to perform basic arithmetical calculations.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
Knowledge of agency, interoffice and U.S. postal mail distribution and preparation.
Knowledge of correct grammar usage.
Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
At least one year of clerical experience.
Must be able to lift at least 50lbs.
ADDITIONAL PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES WITH:
Experience working in a Mailroom Environment.
Experience with creating and maintaining reports in Microsoft Excel.
Experience with Customer Service.
