Minimum Qualifications:
- A master’s degree in archaeology, anthropology, architectural history, architecture, historic preservation, or a related field, OR a master’s degree in history with a focus on public history, preservation, or architecture.
- Meets Professional Qualifications Standards for Archaeology, Architectural History or Historic Architecture, as defined in 36 Code of Federal Regulations
- Experience supervising employees in an office environment
- Experience working with federal, state and/or local historic preservation laws and rules/regulations, including Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act
- Experience writing, editing, or reviewing reports complying with 1A-46, Florida administrative Code, and knowledge of Chapter 267, Florida statues
- Experience interacting with the Florida Master Site File
- Experience conducting Archaeological and Architectural fieldwork, historic research, and/or survey in Florida
- Knowledge of the National Register of Historic Places Criteria for Evaluation and experience evaluating properties for National Register eligibility
- Experience managing program activities to establish goals and objectives, prepares reports, problem solve, work under stress, or possess personnel and project management skills
Preferences:
- Knowledge of the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties
- Experience working with or drafting contracts and agreements including but not limited to Grant Contracts, state vendors contracts, programmatic agreements, or memoranda of agreement, etc.
- Knowledge of the Florida Main Street Program and experience working with the program.
- Knowledge of the Federal Historic Preservation Tax Credit Program
- Knowledge of the Certified Local Government Program
- Experience planning and conducting public meetings, trainings, and/or conferences.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages aspects of the state historic preservation program including but not limited to Florida Main Street Program, state historical markers, state and federal compliance review, Master Site File of historical and cultural resources, federal tax credit program, National Register of Historic Places nomination review and recommendations, Certified Local Government Program, preservation architectural services, constituent informational services, and the historic preservation comprehensive plan,
- Provides leadership and strategic direction for the Bureau, achieves integration and alignment of Bureau, Division, and Department operations. Leads and supports a diverse staff team including individual and team development, performance/productivity planning and evaluation, supporting and sustaining a unified team environment, and establishing positive and motivational working relationships with staff and constituents.
- Prepares, manages, and implements budget(s) for a multi-disciplinary organization, develops and implements business plans, interprets financial and audit reports, utilizes financial trend, forecasting and projection data, and develops entrepreneurial approaches to business planning and organizational operations.
- Oversees agenda and meeting coordination for the National Register Review Board, Florida Historical Commission, Friends of Florida Main Street citizen support organization and grant review panels. Participates in the development and implementation of communications, marketing, advocacy and constituent relations plans and processes including public speaking.
- Leads, plans, promotes, implements, and evaluates history, historic preservation and cultural programs and services, while ensuring compliance with applicable standards, legislation, and laws, and in support of the Division/Department mission. Responsible for interpreting and applying federal Secretary of the Interior's standards and the Historic Preservation Act. Responsible for complying with the National Park Service Historic Preservation Fund grant to Florida.

- Knowledge and understanding of the federal Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended, and Chapter 267, Florida Statues, computer skills.
