Environmental Specialist II

  • Reports to Quality Improvement Department
  • Inspects, reports, and makes recommendations with Environmental, Health & Safety regulations and/or NEFSH policies
  • Prepares documentation (reports, correspondence, photographs, and forms) accurately and in a timely manner
  • Performs daily inspections of residential living areas and staff working environments.
  • Must be able to function with limited supervision by planning and scheduling work independently.
  • Knowledge of general office equipment. PC operation, word processing, and data management using MS Office applications
  • Must be able to communicate information both written and verbally to persons of a wide range of educational and socioeconomic levels
  • Ability to attend and contribute to monthly meetings
  • Conducts environmental site inspections of above ground storage tanks, dental and radiology waste, biomedical waste, and other potentially hazardous waste.
  • Coordinate storage and disposal of HAZWASTE with approved waste disposal facility.
  • Coordinates and maintains electronic database of MSDS program for the facility.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • A Bachelor’s or higher degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the physical or natural sciences or engineering
  • Two years of professional experience in environmental protection, regulation, or health; one of the physical or natural sciences or engineering
  • Professional experience in environmental protection, regulation of health; one of the physical or natural sciences; or engineering can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education

Preferred qualification or experience

  • Industrial Hygienist
  • Registered Sanitarian
  • Environmental Health Specialist
