This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in the Office of Health Services.


Salary Rate: $82,986.75 annually


SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent in this position is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36, Florida Administrative Code. The incumbent in this position is expected to become familiar in the department’s reentry initiatives; display leadership skills that demonstrate the department’s commitment to reentry efforts while maintaining a professional demeanor.


The incumbent in this position is expected to perform other duties as necessary


The incumbent in this position is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36, Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 491, F.S., Chapter 456 F.S., Chapter 120 F.S., 64B-19 F.A.C. and 60L-36, FAC. And is expected to provide monitoring and reporting on the delivery of mental health services for the Office of Health Services.


The incumbent in this position is expected to become familiar with the department’s policy and procedures germane to the delivery of mental health services; have a knowledge of the standards of care for persons with mental impairments; and establish and maintain effective working relationship with others.


Reviews, monitors, and provides guidance on the delivery of mental health services at institutions to ensure compliance with the department’s policies and Procedures, OHS Health Services Bulletins, ACA standards, and professional practice standards on an on-going basis.


Reviews, monitors, and provides guidance on compliance with corrective action plans (CAP) for deficiencies identified in departmental audits and surveys by the Correctional Medical Authority.


Collects findings on contract mental health performance measures and provides standardized monitoring reports for all departmental audits, CMA surveys and corrective action plans and coordinates with interdisciplinary regional monitoring staff to ensure accurate and timely completion of monitoring reports.


Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:

Essential/Entry Level KSA’s:

  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of the theories and principles of provision of psychiatric services
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis

Full Performance Level KSA’s:

  • Knowledge of the standards of care for persons with mental impairments.
  • Knowledge of basic management principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of statewide mental health utilization management.
  • Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Knowledge of the components of a multi-disciplinary mental health system, including psychology, psychiatry, mental health nursing, professional counseling.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document work flow and other activities relating to the improvement of management practices.
  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials.
  • Ability to conduct fact finding research.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a master’s degree in psychology, mental health counseling or related field
  • Must have an active license in accordance with Chapter 49, F.S.
