Your Specific Responsibilities
This is a leadership position serving as the Director of the Public Health Nutrition Program for the Department of Health in Hendry and Glades Counties (FDOH - Hendry and Glades) and is responsible as the WIC Coordinator for all functions related to Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program services consistent with state and federal regulations (OHM 150-24). The incumbent is expected to comply with and ensure staff compliance with all WIC and DOH operating procedures and directives, including information, materials, and equipment security. The incumbent is responsible for administrative activities relating to the WIC program, including budget preparation, mentoring and supervision of staff and collaborating with community partners. Supervisory duties include, but are not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning, and directing work assignments, approving leave, and taking disciplinary action as appropriate. The incumbent must be relied upon to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines while providing excellent customer service. This position reports to the DOH-Hendry and Glades Health Department Administrator and Headquartered in LaBelle or Clewiston.
Plans, organizes, directs, promotes, coordinates, implements, and evaluates WIC and nutrition programs. Monitors these programs according to objectives, developed through analysis of Public Health statistics and community needs assessments. Determines program goals, priorities, and target population groups. Coordinates the WlC Program for this local agency

Represents DOH-Hendry and Glades in areas concerning the WIC Program through participation with agencies from the state, the county, community agencies, businesses, and the media
Overall responsibility for the peer breastfeeding counselling program
Oversees and directs the scheduling and provision of WIC and Nutrition services, including assignment of professionals to support these activities.
Lectures/educates groups as requested
Attends and participates in departmental professional and managerial conferences and meetings
Develops a WIC nutrition program plan in collaboration with WlC staff which includes assessing nutritional resources and designing nutrition services to complement existing community programs
Evaluates WIC indicators and adjusts program plan accordingly
Provides technical assistance and in-services to FDOH-Hendry and Glades staff and other agencies as requested.
Acts as a consultant to senior leadership, program managers, and frontline staff
Functions as property custodian at DOH -Hendry and Glades for all state and/or county property assigned to the WIC and Nutrition Services Program.
Leads quality and process improvement initiatives
Supervisory Responsibilities
Provides leadership and supervision in accordance with professional/industry standards and FDOH/Federal policies
In collaboration with staff, leads quality improvement and process improvement initiatives
Manages recruitment and employment of WlC professional, supervisory, and support personnel
Evaluates staff by observing performance and reviewing documentation of care/services
Provides counseling and coaching for staff using a problem-solving approach
Provides employees with regular communication, both individual and in staff meetings
Makes recommendations regarding transfers, promotions, and terminations
Encourages staff professional development using individual development plans, performance improvement plans, performance appraisals
Plans and directs staff work including approving leave and assigning tasks
Takes disciplinary action as appropriate
Budgeting
Prepares, justifies, and manages the WIC program budget.
The incumbent will serve as a Level 4 Budget Manager to include the preparation and monitoring of annual budget for assigned program area. This will require reviewing and monitoring of OCA budgets and EARs completion in an accurate and timely manner by the incumbent and all employees under their direct supervision.
The incumbent must possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to be able to meet the core competencies regarding budget responsibilities and the computer skills to navigate the budget.
The incumbent is required to review assigned program budgets and OCA balances monthly and at a minimum meet with the CHD Business Office quarterly to make any necessary budget adjustments

Qualifications
Minimum
Emergency duty required of the incumbent of this position includes working in Special Needs or Red Cross Shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
Licensed as a Dietician/Nutrionist in the State of Florida
Willing and able to perform hemoglobin testing on clients
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in nutritional science, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or public health nutrition
Preferred
Professionally competent in dietetics, federal grant program management, human resource management
Knowledge of budget management
Ability to coordinate a variety of programmatic, regional, and interdepartmental factors into strategic plans and project goals
Skilled in leadership, vertical and horizontal communication
3-5 years of professional experience
