Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
The Kansas Board of Regents invites applicants to fill the position of Reporting and Research Specialist. The nine-member Kansas Board of Regents is the governing board of the state’s six universities and the statewide coordinating board for the state’s 32 public higher education institutions (six state universities, one municipal university, nineteen community colleges, and six technical colleges).
The Reporting and Research Specialist will serve as project leader for data-related initiatives as well as actively contribute to the project design and data specifications of assigned projects. In addition, the Reporting and Research Specialist will possess superb writing and communication skills along with technical skills which include business and systems design, data modeling, data/research design, and reporting. Duties include analyzing program requirements, creating data definitions, extracting data, executing performance reports, and other duties as directed by the Associate Director for Data, Research and Planning.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant area from an accredited institution or combination of education, training, and relevant experience. In addition the successful applicant should possess two plus years of demonstrated knowledge of relational database concepts; two plus years of experience or education with query languages such as SAS or SQL; ability to analyze data, reporting needs, and design in addition to creating and writing reports using complex queries; and demonstrated project management skills and experience with the ability to prioritize, take initiative, and follow through to completion multiple projects simultaneously. Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree from an accredited institution; two plus years of institutional research experience or related experience preferably in a college, university, school, or educational agency setting; experience working in higher education; and experience using statistical reporting tools such as SAS, SPSS, or STATA. This position will primarily work remotely; however, in person work at the Topeka office will be required on occasion.

Salary range is $52,000 to $60,000 and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
