Compensation:

  • Annual Salary Range: $43,950.40 - $52,082.40
  • Hourly Pay Range: $21.13 - $25.03

Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

This State Auditor position is located in Topeka, at the Eisenhower State Office Building, and is within the Office of the Inspector General. This position assists with the monitoring of KDOT activities through periodic review and appraisal of accounting and operation controls. The State Auditor also assists in project documentation reviews for compliance with state specifications and federal requirements.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Conducts interviews and communicates with all applicable levels of KDOT personnel.
  • Performs field work at KDOT headquarters and field offices.
  • Examines records and documents to evaluate compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Develops working papers to provide sufficient, competent, and relevant evidence to provide documentation to support the auditor’s opinions, judgements, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Develops audit findings and recommendations and presents to superiors on corrective action to be taken.
  • Travel is required for this position to complete fieldwork. The estimated travel percentage is 35%.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience in examining internal work processes, financial and operational records, and controls to assess effectiveness, accuracy of records, and compliance with statutes.
  • Relevant education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Transcripts are required for education to be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Accounting is preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License at time of appointment.
