What are the responsibilities and job description for the Advancement Associate position at The Stonington Historical Society?
The Advancement Associate is a critical part of the team at the Stonington Historical Society and is responsible for coordinating and implementing a comprehensive advancement program designed to generate sustained general operating and special project support. In concert with the Executive Director, this staff member is responsible for assisting with all aspects of fundraising, including membership, public relations, capital campaigns, the annual fund drive, private major gifts, exhibition and program underwriting, corporate and foundation support, and matching gifts, planned giving (including bequests), and programs designed to broaden and deepen the Society’s fundraising base.
This staff member will also assist with the Society’s promotional materials, in print, and on the web, including a quarterly newsletter, press releases, website updates, and newspaper calendar listings. The Advancement Associate helps to provide a strong community presence by promoting partnerships with other organizations and advancing the Society’s responsiveness to the community’s needs, aspirations, and perceptions concerning local heritage and historic preservation.
The successful candidate will have 3-5 years of fundraising experience, preferably in a museum setting. Strong interpersonal skills are required and experience in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign is a plus. Please send a current resume, cover letter, and three professional references for consideration.
