POSITION SUMMARY
Nordic Ski Instructors are responsible for teaching both private and group lessons, for kids and adults, from first timers to intermediate skiers. Instructors will also be asked to help out with the general operation of the Nordic Center. This will involve greeting guests, scanning or selling passes, familiarizing guests with equipment, and helping to maintain the equipment, building and grounds. Most importantly, applicants must be eager to be part of a fun, supportive team of winter enthusiasts, and be ready to share their enthusiasm. This is a part-time seasonal role, the pay range is $20.00 - $25.00/hr based certification level.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Teach and demonstrate cross country skiing skills, both classic and skate technique, at an advanced intermediate level
- Ski 10K comfortably
- Provide encouraging and enthusiastic service to every guest
- Process lessons, tickets, and rentals in RTP system
- Help guests put on ski and snowshoe equipment
- Operate snowmobile
- “Patrol” the Nordic Center trails to assist guests, monitor conditions, check passes, and act as an ambassador for the Nordic Center
- Shovel snow, haul wood, tend a fire, move tables and chairs
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: Actively pursuing a Highschool Diploma or equivalent
Experience: Experience teaching/coaching cross country skiing is preferred
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
- PSIA or USSA certifications, preferred
- Has a flexible schedule (weekend availability required)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
