What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cash Receipts Associate position at The Strong?
The cash receipts associate is responsible for the overall cash management functions at The Strong. This position reviews daily cash receipts, prepares reports and spreadsheets, and performs reconciliations. The cash receipts associate monitors the inflows of capital to mitigate risk to the organization, ensuring full accountability of all finances.
This position requires exceptional communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and an ability to consistently produce quality work.
Essential Duties:
- Audit admissions cash receipts daily, prepare deposits, and record transactions for the accounting system.
- Prepare cash deposits for pickup by partnering with the cash handling company.
- Prepare deposits and journal entries for payments received from sources other than admissions.
- Deliver non-cash deposits to the bank as needed.
- Collect cash from depositories throughout the museum and prepare related deposits and journal entries.
- Reconcile credit card transactions with reports generated from the point-of-sale systems.
- Perform monthly reconciliation of various bank statements and general ledger accounts.
- Maintain the change bank for all POS locations.
- Distribute petty cash, as needed, and perform periodic audits of the petty cash banks.
- Compile reports for New York State sales tax.
- Serve as a backup for other finance functions as needed.
- Perform general office duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree in accounting or business, or equivalent experience.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
- Working knowledge of accounting software.
- High level of integrity, organization, and attention to detail.
- Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license.
- Availability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
