Reporting to the Middle School Director, the Middle School Mathematics Teacher is a Middle School faculty member who works in the mathematics department in grades 5-8. This teacher has the content knowledge in pre-algebra and algebra I and the pedagogical skill to engage students in high-quality learning experiences. He/she provides a meaningful curriculum and creates opportunities for students to apply content to the real world. He/she is a member of a collaborative faculty engaged in cross-curricular and cross-grade level learning experiences.
Responsibilities:
· Teach mathematics courses for grades 6-8, including Algebra I.
· Participate as an active member of the math department.
· Inspire a love of and appreciation for mathematics in our students.
· Instruct students in mathematics in accordance with curriculum requirements and objectives, making effective use of technology, textbooks, and other instructional materials as appropriate.
· Provide interactive learning experiences for our students that promote collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills that apply to real world situations.
· Employ a variety of instructional techniques and assessments which address multiple learning styles.
· Adapt the classroom program and provide necessary accommodations to meet the needs of individual students.
· Establish and actively maintain a class environment where excellence in learning is honored and where respectful interactions between and among students are valued.
· Serve as an advisor for a group of students and as an active member of the grade level team.
· Foster a culture of inclusivity and diversity within the classroom and advisement.
· Attend faculty and administrative meetings as needed.
· Assist with middle school duties as needed.
· Support the philosophy, policies and goals of the school and adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined in the parent/student handbook and employee handbook.
· Stay current with emerging trends and best practices in middle school education specific to teaching mathematics, classroom management and social-emotional learning.
· Provide necessary and effective parent communication, including parent/student conferences and back-to-school night.
· Act as a role model of professionalism in a Catholic environment.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in mathematics, education, or related field is required.
· A minimum of two years of middle school teaching experience preferred.
· Current Ohio teaching certification/license preferred.
· Possesses a comprehensive understanding of best practices for middle child education.
· Demonstrate a passion for driving student learning and success.
· Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
· Effective verbal and written communication.
Proficient in Google Workspace for Education.
