To this end, the Purchasing Agent supports this mission by researching, evaluating, and purchasing the highest quality materials to meet the needs of production activities, facility requirements, and internal customers.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Pay Range: $23.33 to $28.51 per hour, depending on qualifications.

Work Schedule:
- The Purchasing Agent will match the current schedule of the Production team and this may vary depending on the Production work week but is typically a 4-10 schedule: Monday through Thursday, 7 am to 6 pm.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Prepare and issue purchase orders in response to reorder point triggers
- Prepares and issues packaging purchase orders in response to label approvals, planning needs, and other internal stakeholder needs.
- Work on negotiating terms and conditions, delivery schedules, rebates, and prices directly with vendors, and administer agreements with the Purchasing Manager
- Create and maintain packaging part number accuracy within the ERP system.
- Create purchase orders with initial rate references and shipping terms.
- Reconcile order confirmations against purchase orders.
- Work with domestic and international vendors to obtain material and service information, such as price, availability, and specifications.
- Obtain and electronically file order confirmations, Certificates of Analysis, or Certificates of Compliance, packing lists, etc. with the corresponding purchase order.
- Investigate pricing, part number, unit of measure, or receipt discrepancies and communicate any confirmed variances.
- Obtain and record freight pricing quotes and determine shipping methods for inbound and outbound shipments based on the required delivery date.
- Coordinate with domestic and international vendors to monitor and accurately track shipments and communicate any changes to delivery dates, quality, or pricing to impacted departments.
- Monitor backorders.
- Notate purchase orders and associated reports with updated rate references, shipping terms, status, and expected delivery date.
- Accurately report open purchase orders and expected deliveries weekly.
- Reconcile vendor invoices with purchase orders and carrier freight quotes with freight bills and Ensure invoices with prompt payment discounts are approved timely, reporting any delays that may result in a missed discount.
- Qualify packaging vendors in business relations (Terms, Shipping agreement etc.), attend weekly meetings, and analyze planning impacts.
- Track and report status of incoming production samples, releasing purchase orders based on evaluations conducted by Quality or R&D.
- Report any shipment delays, price increases, or supply problems to the impacted internal stakeholders.
- Maintain complete, organized, and accurate records.
- Anticipate purchasing needs based on inventory levels and production plans.
- Practice regular continuous improvement through incremental adjustments to work, environment, and self.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Our ideal candidate will be comfortable using a computer, have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, can manage multiple priorities and projects, is adaptable and willing to actively participate in improvement, and can demonstrate professionalism and a high level of respect for others.
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, legally authorized to work in the United States, and possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
2 years of related purchasing experience and ERP database experience is preferred.
Candidate must also be able to read, write, speak, listen, and comprehend English proficiently as to ensure the safe and effective performance of the job.
This position is based in Moab, Utah. Remote or hybrid work schedules may be considered for the right candidate.
