Featuring Local Products whenever possible, menus change based on seasonality, freshness, and availability.

Obtaining local products is of utmost importance to us. Sourcing ingredients from neighboring farms allows us to serve the freshest possible dishes, promote the local economy, reduce our carbon footprint, and ensure the food we serve is produced with methods we support. We believe that choosing local food enhances the environmental and economic health of our community.

AMBIANCE

Lots of heart and soul went into the renovation of our restaurant. Our goal was to serve our masterful dishes in a warm, inviting and unique atmosphere and as you look around our historic building we hope you’ll find our restaurant as aesthetically pleasing as it is comfortable.

ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

By obtaining our ingredients locally, we are able to play a role in conserving fossil fuels and reducing harmful emissions. Rather than construct a new building to perfectly suit our operation, we made the more sustainable choice to renovate and retrofit an existing structure. The Tailor & The Cook is housed in a building as old as the city of Utica. We chose as much locally produced, recycled, refurbished, and reclaimed materials as we could.

A lot changed for our Concept in the fall of 2023

After 12 years building our brand at our original location, we made some incredible changes as we expanded into our new home at 311 Main St. Expanding our concept to appeal to a larger market, has more than tripled our revenue stream.

The Tailor and the Cook has built its foundation on supporting local farmers and producers, and this will remain our cornerstone.

Our new space is a considerably larger restaurant, with an extremely exciting expanded bar area. The Tavern at The Tailor and the Cook allows for significant walk in traffic which is vital to our success.

The beverage program is focused on hand-crafted cocktails and local spirits. Our commitment to Wines of NYS will only grow in our new space, and you can absolutely expect a greater selection of draft and bottled local and craft beers!

JOB DESCRIPTION

General Manager Candidates should have a proven track record and ample experience in Hospitality and Restaurant Management. Ability to manage a budget and produce a sustainable labor cost while delivering a high level of is a balancing act our GM will need to master. Acumen with Toast, Resy, and XtraChef are positive attributes as our GM would be managing these programs with our team.

Our GM must possess the ability to create and maintain budgets, P&L’s, and spreadsheets in order to keep a high-volume, high-quality restaurant running efficiently.

*CONNECTIONS: Our GM’s resume should include a well-rounded background in the Service Industry and exhibit a robust knowledge of the Hospitality Industry. To connect with the team you lead, as well as the guests you serve are of equal importance. You must effectively manage a large team and the morale of that team, while balancing labor costs.
