SUMMARY:

 

As a Geospatial Production Analyst, the successful candidate will work with and when required, manage, a small team engaged in: (1) developing, implementing and executing multiple geospatial production workflows within a High Performance Computing (HPC) or cloud environments; (2) encourage and develop new innovative solution to existing geospatial production challenges; (3) collecting, processing and delivering of newly collected satellite imagery; and (4) manually finishing and performance quality control for various geospatial data products.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Be a major part of a complex multi-year geospatial program to develop and produce baseline raster datasets for a US Government client within a High Performance Computing (HPC) environment.• Develop automated workflows for a variety of geospatial tasks within an HPC environment.• Harvest and assemble geospatial source data from open source, onsite, commercial and GFI repositories to support production requirements.• Assist in the development, implementation and performance of Quality Control and Quality Assurance (QA/QC) policies and procedures.• Support all internal and external project/program reporting requirements to meeting customer and corporate requirements.• Support the establishment and enforcement of physical and data security procedures.• Under the direction of the Project Manager, help manage staff responsible for performing a diverse set of geospatial processing and production tasks, this may include non-geospatial tasks, including deputize for the Project Manager when required.• Demonstrate a willingness to work within a small flexible team which may require performing ad-hoc jobs as required to complete a project tasks.• Support daily activity as require.• Maintain regular communication with members of the GNIS team in other locations.• Interact when needed with project partners, contractors, and a customers located off-site.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 

• To varying degrees and frequency support marketing activities including presentations, trade shows, and conferences, which may include travel and overnight stays. Approved travel expenses are fully reimbursable.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

 

• Minimum of 3 years’ (5 years is preferred) of Geospatial experience.• Minimum of 3 years’ (5 years is preferred) experience with scripting/programming in a variety of languages (bash, python, c , idl, etc.)• Minimum of 3 years’ (5 years if preferred) experience working thought a Linux CLI.• Experience with Network, Cloud Architectures and High Performance Computing (HPC).• Experience with software development.• Experience successfully managing Geospatial Projects.• Experience processing and analyzing geospatial data.• Knowledge and experience working with industry standard geospatial formats (vector and raster), metadata, and software.• Previous experience in client/customer service and working in a team environment.• US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain up to a TS/SCI Security clearance.

 

PREFERRED:

 

• Activie TS or TS/SCI Security clearance.• Expereince and knowledge of machine learning/ AI techniques.• Experience working with Digital Elevation Models (DEM).• Experience with satellite remote sensing technologies, including SAR.• Experience with advanced geospatial processing techniques.• Experience working with US DoD or IC customers.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

• Knowledge of geospatial principles. This includes knowledge of datum/projection, data types and formats, accuracy assessment methodologies, data integrity, stereo extraction, ortho-rectification, metadata standards, and SAR processing.• Knowledge of metadata formats and structures.• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.• Ability to communicate to others to convey information effectively.• Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems to maximize customer satisfaction.• Skilled at understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.• Effective, professional, and engaging communication skills.• The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.• The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.• Effective time management skills.• Position requires initiative, independence, persistence, attention to detail, achievement, dependability, diplomacy, discretion, integrity, stress tolerance, and professional appearance.• Motivated, self-starter.• Ability to effectively interact, and in some cases lead, with other team members possessing a range of knowledge and skillsets, from highly technical to non-technical support staff.

 

EDUCATION:

 

Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education. Master’s degree is preferred.

Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system.

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS:

As a condition of employment, must pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results.
