Purpose of Job Position:
The primary purpose of this job position is to provide transportation services in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator and Director of Nursing.
Accountability:
Transportation aide reports to the Administrator and Director of Nursing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The employee must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations. Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position.
Primary Physical Requirements:
Lift up to 25lbs: Consistently
Lift over 50 lbs. Frequently
Carry up to 26lbs: Consistently

Grasp/pull: Consistently
Hand manipulations
Twisting, Bending, Squatting, Kneeling, Crouching, Balancing, Climbing are required

Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within and outside the facility
Controls & Equipment:
Various medical equipment and machines, computers, business office equipment, and motor vehicles
Access to Personal Health Information (PHI):
Requires access to limited PHI on an as-needed basis. Employee must comply with all state, federal, and facility regulations and policies.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Maintain Clear and Active Driver’s license,
Requires a Level II background screening with eligible status.
Employee is required to immediately report to the Administrator any events or occurrence which may affect the employee’s driver license or background screening status. Failure to maintain a clear driver’s license or becoming ineligible under background screening requirements are grounds for termination.
Other Training, Skills and Experience:
Ability to follow direction.
Ability to maintain professional relationships with residents and co-workers.
Demonstrate, on an ongoing basis, the ability safely operate motor vehicles.
Successfully compete facility required orientation and ongoing trainings as designated by the Administrator and Director of Nursing (DON) to include polices on Abuse Prohibition.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Summary of Occupational Exposures:
Tasks and procedures performed by employee involve risks classified by CDC as:
Category I (Direct contact with blood or other bodily fluids to which universal precautions apply)
Specific Task Exposure:
General Resident Care: Blood, urine, feces, vomitus, wound exudates, semen/vaginal secretions, other body fluids- cerebrospinal, synovial, pleaural, peritoneal, pericardial, amniotic;
Handling Soiled Linens and Clothing: Blood, urine, feces, vomitus, wound exudates, semen/vaginal secretions, other body fluids- cerebrospinal, synovial, pleaural, peritoneal, pericardial, amniotic;
Cleaning Resident Rooms and Common Areas- Blood, urine, feces, vomitus, wound exudates, semen/vaginal secretions.

Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the work day, as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
Working Conditions:
Works indoors and outdoors in a variety of temperatures and conditions.
Moves frequently during working hours.
Work Surface varies from carpeting, linoleum, tile, concrete, gravel, dirt and grass.
Is subject to frequent interruptions.
Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc.
Communicates with the medical staff, nursing staff, and other department supervisors.
Works beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
Is subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.
Other Considerations and Requirements:
Any fines, violations, fees, or penalties incurred as a result of an employee’s illegal actions (violations of state, federal, local laws, ordnances, or regulations) are the responsibility of the employee. An example of an illegal action/violation is if the facility is fined for the employee driving through a red-light. The facility will seek recovery of monetary penalties from the employee.
