The Financial Analyst will be responsible for a variety of duties surrounding the planning, forecasting, analysis, and reporting of consolidated financial results. This position will also manage the annual budget process, data consolidation, and special projects.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the company’s annual budgeting process and creating reporting to communicate budget vs. actual variances throughout the year.
- Collaborate with leaders across the organization to understand the business drivers to any budget variances and influence actions to keep the company on budget.
- Perform analyses to assess the viability of investment opportunities and help the organization identify the investments that will provide the best return.
- Monthly, completing retail bonus preliminary and final calculations and accruals based on bonus plan criteria, using data from multiple sources.
- Work closely with the Payroll team to validate labor reporting utilized in the bonus calculation, understand labor by location, and issue bonus payments and corrections.
- Assist retail operation partners with bonus & P&L related questions.
- Assist with the month-end closing process, including the preparation of journal entries, accounting analysis, approval of staff work, the company’s consolidation, and the compilation of the company’s financial statements.
- Provide monthly financial updates for the company’s management team and its Board of Directors.
- Will partner with the CEO, CFO, CAO, and other senior leaders across the organization to prepare materials for the company’s quarterly meetings with its Board of Directors.
- Build complex financial models to evaluate opportunities and enable the organization to deliver on long term growth strategies.
- Analyze industry trends and makes recommendations based on those trends.
- Assist and investigate P&L and variance between plan/forecast and expected results.
- Provide hands-on support for daily operations, month-end, year-end, and related processes.
- Conduct ad hoc research and analysis for department heads to ensure that the best corporate decisions are made to achieve operational and financial objectives.
- Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and validity of the information being reported.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant corporate financial planning, reporting, and analysis experience
- 2 years of professional experience as an accountant
- Experience working in SAP
- Experience building detailed and dynamic financial models in Excel
- Ability to communicate effectively across all functions and levels including presenting ideas and financial analysis to senior management
- Ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment and turnaround requests quickly
- Passionate about continuous improvement and out of the box thinking
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong collaboration skills and capable of working with varying personality types across all departments
- Self-motivated with a strong understanding of the needs of a retail business
