SCENIC INDUSTRIAL PAINTER

We are seeking a talented SCENIC INDUSTRIAL PAINTER to join our rock star production team. You will work with our carpentry and metal team to paint various types of surfaces during exhibit construction.

JOB SUMMARY:

We are searching for a deadline-driven painter with great attention to detail. Base, primary, and finish painting of all hard pieces of scenery. Sculpting and carving of organic foam shapes. Laying out and painting of backdrops either upright on a paint frame or painted flat. The painter will be expected to use color theory principles to match shades, follow written and verbal instructions, and use a variety of tools to paint surfaces. This will include painting and staining cabinetry and other wood products, to painting aluminum, steel, plastics, dimensional acrylic letters for signs, as well as indoor and outdoor applications. Other responsibilities include completing minor repairs and selecting correct paints and primers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• They should have a good knowledge of basic scenic painting techniques, layout and paint application skills, and color mixing.
• They must also be well versed in techniques such as marbling, ragging, wood graining and texturing.
• Painting and staining cabinetry and other wood products
• Painting aluminum, steel, plastics, dimensional acrylic letters for signs
• Indoor and outdoor applications
• Selecting the correct tools and paints for projects
• Preparing walls and other surfaces before painting
• Mixing and applying paints, varnishes, and sealants for a lasting finish.
• Covering exposed objects and surfaces.
• Using fillers such as putty and plaster to repair cracks.
• Maintaining inventory of paint, brushes, and other supplies.
• Obeying workplace safety rules.
• Collaborating with other design and construction specialists.
• Keeping the workspace and tools clean.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3 years experience in custom finish work and scenic painting.
• Ability to work accurately and quickly under company deadlines.
• Cooperative, courteous, flexible and good natured.
• Conscientious, persistent, resourceful, productive and active.
• Must have the ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships and deal with employees in an efficient and professional manner.
• Trade show experience a plus
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must have attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks and commitment to meeting and exceeding deadlines and goals.
• Valid drivers license.
