Hawkins United Methodist Church is seeking a part-time Pianist/Organist

Qualifications:
- Experience/accomplished piano player and/or organ or keyboard player.
- Experience accompanying choirs in a worship setting.
- Familiarity with liturgical elements of worship in the United Methodist Church.
Salary: $12,000-$15,000/yr. commensurate with experience; 2 Sundays services and 2 Wednesday rehearsals off a year, additional planned absences negotiated in advance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accompany church ensembles, play service and incidental music during the service, and play hymns as directed.
- Weekly Sunday commitment is 10:00-11:45, Wednesday rehearsal is in the timeframe of 5:30-8:00 depending on the time of year (lasting about 1.5 hours), and special services include Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Easter, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day
- Up to 4 additional events yearly, planned outside of Sunday and Wednesday commitments.
- Prepare and practice organ registrations, accompaniments, and solo repertoire regularly.
- Accompany rehearsals, rehearse with guest musicians, and prepare for all such rehearsals. Special rehearsals may be required for special events.
- Lead rehearsal, and in case of emergency, lead Sunday service in absence of Director of Music Ministry; work with guest/substitute conductors
- Consult with Music Director on maintenance of the organ and piano (entrusting that work to qualified and trained professionals).
- Consult with families for weddings and funerals/memorials.
- Arrange for substitute accompanist during times of absence.
