Pay Grade/Pay Range: Based on Qualifications
Department/Organization: 208101 - Dean's Office-CCHS
Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:45PM; limited evening/weekend hours
Job Summary: The Purchasing Assistant will aide in procurement-related activities at the college or University level.
Additional Department Summary: The Purchasing Assistant assists with the procurement and distribution of medical supplies to all College of Community Health Sciences (CCHS) facilities, including Student Health Center, Brewer Porch Children's Center, and all University Medical Center community clinics. Ensures necessary medical supplies/equipment, pharmaceuticals, and other items are obtained and delivered to clinic locations in a timely manner. Coordinates deliveries, serves as procurement courier and back up to medical courier for all CCHS facilities as needed. Monitors inventory usage and maintains supply levels. Maintains accurate inventory records and produces reports for billing purposes. Serves as administrative support for CCHS Purchasing Director.
Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and three years of general office experience; OR Associate's degree and one year of general office experience; OR Bachelor's degree.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Skills and Knowledge: General knowledge of procurement practices. Proficiency in the use of personal computers and standard application software (word processing, spreadsheets and/or data base management), and graphical software. Ability to work with diverse populations. Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing, using technical and non-technical language.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with University financial policies, purchasing and budget procedures, and systems (i.e. Banner, Concur, P-Card) preferred.
