Infusion Registered Nurse - Part Time

• Assists in identifying opportunities for cost containment and appropriate utilization of resources.
• Delivers care in a financially responsible manner, conserving resources, supporting budget and staffing guidelines, and ensuring patient safety.
• Effectively manages hospital/unit supplies and resources.
• Participates in budget preparation.
• Acts as advocate for patient and families.

• Functions as an interactive resource in clinical and professional practice and is responsible for designing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating patient care and utilizing the concepts of the nursing process.
• Initiates assessment on admission, including psychosocial, physical, spiritual, emotional, and education/ discharge needs of the patient and family or significant other.
• Utilizes interviewing skills in identifying patients' primary problem, formulating nursing diagnosis/problem list as defined by policy/procedure.
• Identifies discharge planning needs from the nursing history, creates discharge plan, and initiates appropriate referral.
• In collaboration with physicians, effectively coordinates and implements the plan of care through the use of nursing process.
• Responsible for and makes accurate and ongoing nursing assessments of patients' status, responds appropriately, and revises plan of care based on patients' response.
• Utilizes basic knowledge of pathophysiology in the development of plan of care utilizing approved documentation format.
• Sets priorities for nursing action, in a logical sequence according to patient's needs and formulates an appropriate yet individualized plan of care designed to achieve desired patient outcomes.
• Delegates tasks effectively to all levels of staff based on their scope of practice, job description, ability, and patient care center needs.
• Responsible for and provides patient/significant other education, based on identified educational needs.
• Understands growth and development and responds effectively to the unique needs of specific patient populations.
• Provides therapeutic & diagnostic treatments within scope of practice; maintains clinical competency as appropriate.
• Compassionately gives personal patient care to provide comfort and well-being to the patient acknowledging physiological and psychosocial needs.
• Coordinates & prioritizes diagnostic testing according to patient diagnosis and individualized needs.
• Initiates referrals as necessary and communicates relevant information.
• Demonstrates ability to handle emergency situations in a prompt, precise and professional manner.
• Promotes patient care and Ingalls Hospital philosophy.
• Follows proper identification procedures prior to giving care. Performs proper isolation techniques with isolation patients.
• Assists with the turning, positioning, moving, lifting, transferring and ambulating patients using proper techniques.
• Interprets and represents Ingalls Hospital philosophy, policies, procedures and patient rights and responsibilities to patients and their families.
• Assists in referring patient to appropriate services and resources.
• Orients patients to the department and in-house resources.
• Responsible for and monitors the quality of patient care, patient outcomes, and clinical practice and implements improvements as indicated according to department standards.
• Collaborates with professional peers and provides participative supervision and leadership for Care Team Members in managing patient care and clinical practice.
• Coordinates patient care services with the physicians and other professional disciplines.
• Maintains effective communication (verbal and written) with patients, family or significant other, physicians, and other members of the health care team.
• Responsible for meeting regulatory bodies' requirements for clinical practice, patient care and
• performance improvement.
• Participates in performance improvement through tool development, data collection, analysis, developing and/or implementing action plans for improvement.
• Identifies unit issues in education; and collaborates with others to develop, implement and evaluate action plans.
• Promotes a safe environment by employing safety practices and procedures as outlined by departmental hospital policy.
• Assures accurate and complete documentation of patient care in the medical record in accordance with approved policy and procedure.
• Identifies clinical practice and/or operation issues in patient care and initiates effective strategies to manage them.
• Participates in developing and implementing performance improvement standards, standards of practice, and standards of care.
• Effects changes in the management of patient care based on documented research and clinical expertise.
• Responsible for patient satisfaction.
• Protects patient's, employees, and physicians right to personal and informational privacy and confidentiality. Enhances and updates the science of nursing by demonstrating effectively personal and professional responsibility.
• Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with patient, families and co-workers.
• Ability to function effectively in an extended team environment.
• Ability to utilize, or demonstrate ability to learn computer on unit/department according to policy/procedure.

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current RN Licensure State of Illinois Department of Professional Regulation or valid temporary
• permit to practice nursing in the State of Illinois.
• Current BLS
• Minimum of one year full time experience in an outpatient ambulatory infusion or oncology center or one year of acute experience in medical surgical, oncology, or critical care nursing. Must possess excellent organization and communication skills. Must be flexible as some evening and weekend hours will be required. Must possess knowledge regarding use and care of venous access devices such as implantable and peripherally inserted catheters. Must possess excellent venipuncture and IV start skills. ONS or INS certification desired.

• Completion of ONS Chemo-Biotherapy Course within 12 months, unless holds current ONS or INS certification.
