Job Description:

Position within the Genomic Sequencing and Analysis Facility that will prepare customer samples for Sanger Sequencing and provide laboratory support to the Next Generation Sequencing Facility.

Job Details:

Responsibilities

  • Track customer samples.
  • Perform DNA sequencing using equipment such as the ABI 3730 DNA analyzer.
  • Maintain clear and precise records.
  • Maintain the Biomek liquid handler and ABI instruments.
  • Check sample quality and quantity using Qubit and Nanodrop.
  • Assist customers with submitting samples, as well as viewing and downloading results.
  • Responsible for tracking necessary reagents and consumables needed for sequencing and for assisting with ordering. 
  • Assist in Next Generation Sequencing facility; run the BioAnalyzer, size select samples with the Blue Pippin, check in customer samples.

  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering or related field. A minimum of 1 year of Molecular Biology laboratory experience. Ability to clearly communicate verbally and electronically. Ability to follow written instructions precisely. 

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Sanger sequencing or PCR setup

Salary Range

$34,008-$36,000
