- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Spanish, Health Care, or related field and three (3) years related experience.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in English and Spanish fluently.
- Possess Certified Medical Interpreter (CMI) from NBCMI or CCHI or obtain certification within 2 years of hire date.
- Experience in conducting training courses preferred. Industry recognized certification preferred.
Provides administration and coordination of all translation related functions for UTMB and delivers medical Spanish curriculum.
Essential Duties:
- Coordinates translation services for the institution.
- Accurately translates letters, forms, medical reports, research papers, legal documents, contracts, transcripts, diplomas, certificates, video and audio tapes from English to Spanish and Spanish to English as required.
- Coordinates and conducts medical terminology training courses.
- Recommends training programs to meet departmental needs.
- Develops training objectives, develops lesson plans, and prepares presentations and visual aids for training programs.
- Provides direction to assigned personnel including training and orienting as required. Solves work-related problems and maintains productivity.
- Provides interpreting services.
- Presents training courses.
- Adheres to internal controls established for department
- Performs related duties as required.
