JOB DESCRIPTION:
Department: Neurosurgery Adult and Pediatric
The Neurosurgery Staff Nurse- II provides advanced professional nursing care to patients in varying states of health and illness through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient’s health needs. This role works closely with a team of surgeons and advanced practice providers to provide high quality care for their patient population. The role involves phone triage, coordination of care, collaboration with physicians and other clinical staff in various departments, minor post-surgical wound care, as well as pre and post-operative patient teaching. Organizational Standards of Patient Care and Nursing Practice guide the delivery of nursing services by the individual. The position demonstrates dedication to professional growth and development and to the continuous improvement of patient care. This position has the potential to be up to 30% remote.
EDUCATION:
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont required. The University of Vermont Medical Center is moving toward an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce. All external candidates hired into, or current employees promoted to, a RN position will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in the terms of their offer letter.
EXPERIENCE:
1 year experience in relevant clinical area. Telephone triage experience preferred.
