JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a General Medicine Nurse, you will treat patients who often have complex, multi-system diseases and/or psychosocial needs. We have a 41-bed unit where the stay for patients ranges from overnight observation to extended stays due to medical complexity. Patient care and communication is optimized by collaboration with our extensive team. We specialize in caring for patients who are ventilator dependent and are not in need of critical care.
We want you to grow professionally, so we offer a variety of opportunities to participate in practice improvements, research and conferences. Many of our nurses participate in our Specialty Practice groups such as Elder Care, Diabetes Care, and Skin and Wound Care. Our nurses also have the opportunity to advance through the Clinical Advancement and Recognition Program (CARP).
EDUCATION:
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont required. The University of Vermont Medical Center is moving toward an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce. All external candidates hired into, or current employees promoted to, a RN position will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in the terms of their offer letter.

Appropriate experience in specific clinical area. Varies by unit.
