The Administrative Service Officer is a highly responsible position at the Police Department front desk. Duties include considerable contact with Village residents and the general public, both in-person and on the phone. As an A.S.O. you will provide staff support to Police Officers, receive and process payments, monitor the Police radio, perform clerical tasks - such as data entry, maintaining logs and files, and assisting with special projects.
HOURS AND SCHEDULE
40 hours per week - Eight hour shifts. Shifts subject to change.
Fulltime schedule with possible rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Open Shift: 5:30 p.m. - 1:30 a.m.
Starting salary of $22.6769/ hour ($47,168 annual salary)

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND COMPUTER SKILLS
High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
No prior experience or training required.
Preferred - some Customer Service or Front Desk Experience with cash handling.
A Plus - Police Department or Municipal Front Desk Customer Service Experience.
Keyboarding skill of 6,000 keystrokes per hour corrected
Knowledge of LEADS, Computer Aided Dispatch and Motorola Premier One a plus, ability to obtain LEADS certification within 6 months of hire is required
Bilingual preferred, but not required
Upon offer, a pre-employment Village-paid drug screen and background investigation, including credit is required.

75.00% - Monitors telephones, radios, computer monitors and printers. Answers incoming calls in a courteous and professional manner and ascertains the nature of the calls. Gathers the necessary information to transmit or relay and prioritizes calls based on established guidelines. Simultaneously listens and deciphers sometimes distressed or confused verbal communications on the telephone, over the radio and in person; maintains composure, makes critical decisions and verbally communicates clearly and in a calming manner. Answers police non-emergency lines and other lines as needed, and routes calls appropriately. 5.00% - Maintains computerized logs and files. Records various information such as malfunctioning traffic lights or closed streets, and keeps emergency personnel
informed. 25.00% - Monitors individuals in holding cells, front lobby, security garage and other secure locations on closed circuit T.V. for proper conduct, safety, medical or
other needs. Operates and properly maintains all tools and equipment needed to perform the essential job functions and responsibilities listed above while adhering to all
safety rules and practices. 25.00% - Provides staff support to officers by running and collecting data on arrestees, making notifications and confirming warrants and LEADS information. 75.00% - Greets visitors coming into the Police Department in a courteous and professional manner; answers inquiries from the general public, other agencies and visitors coming into the Police Department in a courteous and professional manner; answers inquiries from the general public, other agencies and employees placing emphasis on customer service. 15.00% - Receives and processes cash and credit card payments. - Specialized applications: LEADS(Law Enforcement Agency Data System), Motorola Premier One, CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) Communication Skills - - Ability to read, comprehend, listen to and follow complex verbal or written instructions from multiple sources. Ability to provide appropriate feedback by asking probing questions and/or suggesting alternative approaches. Ability to read, comprehend, create and explain to others complex correspondence, reports and/or manuals. Ability to convey procedures and policies one-on-one or in groups to employees or customers.

- Assists in processing of prisoners by searching arrestees as necessary (female employees with female prisoners).
