Job Title: Mental Health Support Worker
Immediate Supervisor: Clinical Supervisor
Core duties and responsibilities:
- Identify client's values, strengths, and support systems
- Provide individual counseling services with a special focus on improving mental and physical health
- Determine creative and effective strategies for change
- Provide encouragement and motivation for change to clients
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Teach or enhance daily living skills
- Assist client in developing and accomplishing housing, employment, and transportation goals
- Respect client confidentiality
- Teach appropriate communication skills
- Attend Court hearings and funding meetings as requested by a referral agency
- Communicate weekly (or as requested) with referral agency to update on the case
- Network within the community for resources
- Promote a team atmosphere among all providers
- Respond to crises by providing guidance to the client and empowering appropriate choices
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with clients, referral agents, and co-workers
- Advocate within the educational environment
- Complete and submit accurate documentation and billing on time
- Assume responsibility for professional growth and development
- Utilize consultation and supervision
- Attend regular staff meetings and supervision
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Ability to keep professional boundaries
- Extensive knowledge of adolescent and adult development and treatment provision
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Other Job Requirements:
- Availability to work a varying schedule including evenings and weekends
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Access to own vehicle to transport clients
- Must pass an extensive background check
- Must have a good driving record
- Must have a local cell phone
- Must be registered as a QMHP A/C/T
Educational requirements: Must possess at least a bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field and experience providing direct behavioral health services to individuals with mental illness, intellectual disability, or receiving gerontology or special education services. Must meet current Virginia Medicaid qualifications for Qualified Mental Health Professional.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $26.00 per hour
