Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: Prepares meals according to recipes, presents meals in accordance with established meal schedules, washes dishes and equipment used in preparation and maintains general kitchen sanitation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs quality assurance functions as assigned by Director of Dietary Services.
  • Completes cleaning checklist.
  • Inventories, puts away and checks freight for quality.
  • Maintains and cleans kitchen and equipment.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary workstation.
  • Measures chemical levels in sanitation mixture to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Keeps stock updated and reports food and supply needs to Director of Dietary Services.
  • Stocks lounges on each unit.
  • Monitors temperatures on salad bar, steam table, freezer, walk-in, beverages and dishwasher.
  • Reviews menu to determine type and quantity of meats, vegetables, soups, salads and desserts to be prepared.
  • Prepares, presents and serves food in accordance with established meal schedules.
  • Prepares meals according to recipes, ensuring that the food is cooked and served according to health and safety standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: Ability to continuously stand or walk, bend, climb stairs, and lift frequently. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently. Ability to squat occasionally and maneuver in different positions, such as reaching, extending, and bending to clean. The ability to climb and work from a ladder. Basic computer skills. Self-identified person in recovery from a Substance Use Disorder must have a minimum of two years of sobriety from substances of abuse. Must pass pre-hire requirements including a criminal background check, UA, and TB test. Must obtain a Food Handlers Certification and CPR certification within the 90-day initial employment period. Must obtain a ServSafe Certification if so directed.

WORK ENVIROMMENT: Work will be conducted in a kitchen environment. May encounter temperatures ranging from -10 degrees to 425 degrees around equipment. May occasionally walk on slippery surfaces. Exposure to cleaning agents and chemicals with provided safety equipment.
