We are seeking a seasoned portfolio manager/commercial banker with strong credit skills to support our commercial lending portfolio. This position will be a key contributor to the implementation of the overall growth plan.
Working in partnership with the Team Leader and other staff, this position will be responsible for underwriting of new transactions as well as effectively managing credit relationships within the existing commercial portfolio of C&I clients, which includes owner-occupied CRE and some Not-For-Profit clients. The individual in this role will have the opportunity to develop as the main point of contact for credit for these clients that are commercial borrowers that likely have wealth and deposit relationships with the bank.
- We offer a flexible hybrid schedule with on-site work in Providence, RI or Westerly, RI.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support the end-to-end credit management process including underwriting, structuring and documenting of loan transactions. Underwriting includes financial, industry and risk analysis and development of projections.
- Assist in the legal documentation, loan closing and loan funding.
- Provide ongoing maintenance and management of the assigned portfolio, including updating files with current financial information, risk rating assessments, collateral monitoring, covenant monitoring, tracking delinquencies, industry trends, and watch for developing issues.
- Maintain timely renewals of loan maturities for the assigned portfolio and ensure timely completion of annual file updates.
- Covenant Compliance: Monitoring, testing and preparation of waivers.
- Facilitate borrower financial reporting submissions to the bank. Responsible for evaluating financial performance of borrower and guarantors based on a variety of factors determining an appropriate risk rating.
- Assure adherence to credit policies, guidelines and applicable regulatory compliance.
- Work with the team to develop a relationship plan and credit management strategy for key customers and loan prospects.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent in professional experience. Analytical background in commercial lending or other analytical experience is preferred such as formal credit training.
- Proven experience in the Commerical lending function and knowledge of bank policies and procedures required.
- Strong credit skills, previous credit training required.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication (both written and oral), research and computer skills, attention to detail, and ability to creatively analyze various situations and data.
- Proficient in spreading financial statements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
