The Weitz Company is seeking a Paralegal / Legal and Claims Administrator to be located out of our Des Moines, IA Corporate office.
The Paralegal / Legal and Claims Administrator is responsible for performing a wide variety of clerical, administrative and paralegal duties in order to provide assistance and support to the Legal staff.
What You'll Do:
- Maintain standard form contracts and coordinate with each business unit
- Process and code legal bills accurately and efficiently
- Maintain compliance of state contractor licenses, including applications and renewals
- Assist qualified individuals on licenses with any required continuing education or examination paperwork requirements
- Prepare and complete state corporate filings
- Manage Company licensing, renewals and contract updates
- Provide administrative support for Legal staff
- Adhere to all company policies, standards, and procedures
- Other duties and projects as assigned
What We're Looking For:
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each previously stated duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and ability necessary to succeed in this role.
- Education: A Bachelor s Degree or Paralegal Degree is required. An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered. Emphasis in corporate formation and licensing, insurance and construction is preferred.
- Experience: Previous administrative experience is preferred, but not required. Familiarity with the legal system is preferred, but not required.
- Skills: Independent judgment, organizational skills, and the flexibility to coordinate multiple projects with frequent interruptions are necessary skills for this role. Candidate must also have attention to detail, tact and discretion with sensitive and confidential information, adaptability, prioritization, and internal and external communication skills.
- Technology: Candidate should be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and have experience with or ability to learn specific software. Training will be provided on company standards.
