OVERVIEW
:

As the Director of Housekeeping, you will have the opportunity to work alongside the other Housekeeping leaders to oversee the day-to-day operation of the Housekeeping Department. You will conduct regular inspections of the hotel to ensure adherence to cleanliness and maintenance standards. You will oversee management duties including the selection, training and development of all Housekeeping team members. You will be responsible for managing operating expenses and labor to maximize costs while providing excellent guest service. Your previous housekeeping leadership experience will help you ensure that all company policies and procedures are being followed. Above all, you will keep the team motivated through your energetic, positive management style while leading them to exceed guest expectations and deliver exceptional service.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Directs and supervises the staff in Housekeeping.
  • Coordinate with the Front Office to review occupancy levels and staff labor accordingly.
  • Maintain a room history journal-detailing inventory, major maintenance and repairs, renovations and general cleaning.
  • Supervise inventory system for supplies and equipment and establish reorder levels; keep repair records for equipment.
  • Maintain records of linen usage and compare to occupancy levels. Review linen inventory and oversee laundry operations.
  • Test and evaluate cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Oversight of any on-site laundry operations.
  • Coordinate supplies and equipment through requisition system and the Purchasing Department.
  • Meet with vendors and contractors to learn about new products and services offered.
  • Oversee management duties including hiring, training, payroll, scheduling, labor monitoring, coaching/counseling, etc.
  • Work with the Director of Rooms to prepare an annual budget outline for capital expenditures for the Housekeeping Department.
  • Work with the Assistant Director of Housekeeping to serve as liaisons between the hotel and all relevant third-party vendors.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures regarding temporary employees are being followed.
  • Organize and participate in meetings and maintain records and data pertaining to Property Operations.
  • Conduct occasional inspections of guest rooms and provide feedback to Room Attendants.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Comply with quality assurance standards.
  • Follow company and department policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; wear nametag; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
  • Follow property specific procedures for handling emergency situations (e.g., evacuations, medical emergencies, natural disasters).
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time.
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Have access to reliable transportation and follow attendance policy


ADDITIONAL POSITION DUTIES
:

  • Respond to any reasonable task assigned by members of the executive committee.
  • Assist in other areas as needed.
  • Notify Loss Prevention/Security of any reports of theft.
  • All other duties as assigned.


OTHER
:

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.


Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled mandatory training sessions and meetings is required.

Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Castlerock policies and procedures for the safe and effective operation of the hotel’s facilities. Employees who violate company rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
