POSITION SUMMARY
The Dental Administrative Assistant is responsible for the front desk operation of the dental clinic. This entails all aspects of patient check-in and check-out including gathering and verifying all patient information, entering charges and collecting patient fees. This position will answer incoming phone calls, schedule patient appointments and prepare bank deposits. Must be a great team player, self-starter, work quickly and efficiently under pressure, have problem solving skills, excellent customer service skills and work well with a diverse population.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the Director of Dental Operations. No other roles report to this position.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & FUNCTIONS
While living and demonstrating our Core Values, the Dental Administrative Assistant will:
Actively participate in the achievement of patient satisfaction and office production goals by working efficiently and providing a high level of patient service
Verify patient demographics, ensure correct insurance information is on file and collect co-pays
Dental billing
Coordinate all aspects of patient care
Cheerfully greet and check-in patients
Answer and direct phone calls
Schedule appointments
Accurately maintain detailed patient records in a fast-paced environment
Perform clerical duties such as copying, faxing, filing, emailing, etc.
Professional demeanor throughout the work day
Assist with other duties as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
One year of medical or dental office experience preferred
High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience with dental billing software preferred
Able to multi-task without losing quality work
Certified Dental Assistant is a PLUS, not required
Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail
Must be reliable and punctual
Must have attention to detail
Must be able to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with many changing priorities
Must be professional and customer service oriented to deliver quality excellent care
Ability to work independently and with a team
Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Willingness to work a flexible schedule and cover at other clinics when necessary
