Position: Economic Empowerment Coordinator
Department: Victim Services
Supervisor: Director, Anti-Trafficking Program
Compensation Range: $50,000 Annually; Excellent Benefits
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Full-Time
Hours of Work: Monday – Friday; Typical Business Hours. Occasional evening or weekend work.
MISSION STATEMENT:
Eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: To provide economic empowerment support and assistance to survivors of human trafficking. Develop relationships with Michigan Works, private employers, and community members to facilitate employment and mentorship opportunities for survivors of human trafficking. Provide training and technical support to partners on the dynamics of human trafficking.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- Fluency in written and spoken Spanish strongly preferred.
- Four-years’ experience in direct services with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or human trafficking.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Must possess an understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
- Ability to initiate and cooperate, working alone or with a team.
- Proven ability to set priorities and fulfill responsibilities.
- Ability to make sound decisions and respond capably in crisis situations.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain detailed records and statistics.
- Demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide assessment of human trafficking clients referred to the YWCA and assist them in securing appropriate financial counseling, education, and employment opportunities.
- Advocate for and provide support to program participants regarding employment rights as needed.
- Create an outreach plan and training on workplace rights for human trafficking survivors and workers in industries vulnerable to trafficking.
- Identify systemic barriers to survivors in securing employment and assist with crafting a systems change plan for the agency and with area taskforce partners.
- Assist Director in developing, maintaining and evaluating program operations.
- Work with YWCA accounting staff to ensure proper disbursement of client assistance funds.
- Maintain positive relationships with program partners, including Michigan Works, area community colleges, colleges and universities, and other job training programs, private businesses, and community members serving as mentors.
- Safeguard confidential information gained as a result of the position.
- Comply with Association policy regarding required reporting of child abuse.
- Comply with applicable local, state and federal licensing requirements/certification and/or regulations.
- As a YWCA employee, project a positive image of the Association and its programs to the community, the Association and the program.
- Work cooperatively with program participants, YWCA staff and volunteers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Appropriate training and in-service which will occur during employment.
